Another where to start question!

cymro
Hello to everyone here! I am looking forward to contributing to this project. I have worked as a Java and C# developer and have studied some C++ (which is pretty similar of course) years ago. However I am pretty confused where to start. How do I import the project into QT? I think I have downloaded the code from GitHub (I forked and cloned it) - although the instructions where pretty hard to follow. Now I would like to jump in and try to implement some bug fixes. BUT how do I go about this.? I am assuming I that I need to import the whole project into the IDE (QT) and then use the debugger. So I would complie and run (and then step through?) the code? Looking forward to your replies!! All the best,

Daniel

Hi Daniel,

The error shows that you forgot to install libvorbis in the right directory. Read again https://musescore.org/en/developers-handbook/compilation/compile-instructions-windows-mingw-git#Dependencies

Thanks Lasonic I figured it was something to do with this - the clues in the error msg lol! ok so now it complies OK but it says

In the QT instructions - https://musescore.org/en/node/116991 there seems to me a missing step in the bit near the end "Finally, we have to say where the Executable can be found ......"

To be able to specify a path for the executable you have to click on the Add drop-down and choose Custom executable:
I put in the value: %{sourceDir}\win32install\bin\MuseScore.exe in here as per the instructions.

But I can't help thinking this is something to do with the error I'm getting?
