Installing 0.9.1 on ubuntu

Atte Andre Jensen
Hi

I'm trying to install mscore 0.9.1 on ubuntu. Everything goes well up
until the "make install"-part:

atte@ajstrup:~/software/mscore-0.9.1$ sudo make install
[sudo] password for atte:
cd build; make install
make[1]: Entering directory `/home/atte/software/mscore-0.9.1/build'
make[2]: Entering directory `/home/atte/software/mscore-0.9.1/build'
[  6%] Built target awl
[ 14%] Built target awlplugin
[ 19%] Built target fluid
[ 19%] Built target osdabzip
[ 95%] Built target mscore
[ 97%] Built target smf2xml
[100%] Built target xml2smf
make[2]: Leaving directory `/home/atte/software/mscore-0.9.1/build'
Install the project...
-- Install configuration: "RELEASE"
CMake Error: Error in cmake code at
/home/atte/software/mscore-0.9.1/build/cmake_install.cmake:35:
FILE INSTALL cannot find file
"/home/atte/software/mscore-0.9.1/build/mscore.desktop" to install.
Current CMake stack:
[1]     /home/atte/software/mscore-0.9.1/build/cmake_install.cmake
make[1]: *** [install] Error 255
make[1]: Leaving directory `/home/atte/software/mscore-0.9.1/build'
make: *** [install] Error 2

What am I dowing wrong?

It seems the binary was build, but I simply tried opening it (looks ok)
and closing, but then the app hangs:

atte@ajstrup:~/software/mscore-0.9.1/build/mscore$ ./mscore
Couldn't resolve property: 2
Killed

What's wrong here? Is it possible to run mscore without installing this
way, IOW: does the mscore binary depend on other parts of the package to
be installed in order to word (and could that be the reason the program
hangs)?

You will have to change line 150 in mscore/CMakeLists.txt into

install( FILES packaging/mscore.desktop DESTINATION/share/applications)

Stefan

Great, thanks.

Was that me doing something wrong or is this something that should be
changed in the source?

Now I'm off to play with the program :-)

It is a bug in the build system, that hopefully will be fixed in a
future version.

Enjoy Musescore!

Stefan

Forgot to send this below e-mail to the list. I'm not used to GMail's

Hi. I maintain the Ubuntu packages for mScore. I have just uploaded
the sources to my PPA, and they should now be built for Gutsy (7.10).
On Hardy, the "mscore" package is already available in the universe
repository.

If you wish to use my Ubuntu Gutsy packages, add the following lines
to your Apt sources, update, and install the package "mscore". Werner,
maybe you would like to make this clear on your SourceForge home page?

deb http://ppa.launchpad.net/tsmithe/ubuntu gutsy main
deb-src http://ppa.launchpad.net/tsmithe/ubuntu gutsy main

Be aware that since I sent the last e-mail, I've requested a backport
of mScore to Gutsy[0], using the official gutsy-backports repository.
As a result, my PPA copy is only provided temporarily.

Werner, perhaps you'd rather not add my PPA details to the mScore
homepage, and wait until the package is provided in gutsy-backports,
and recommend that users enable that as appropriate[1]. Please see my
request for progress updates[0].
