Multichannel audio representations

Anne Ikonen
Hi,

Some questions about possibilities to use GM through several (>1) speakers:

  1) Do you have stereo facilities available for this software? How to use them? How to setup stereo pan and change it during the play?

  2) Can one make representations for, lets say 5-channel audiosystems with software-programmable equalizers for every channel?
How this could be implemented in Mscore? Or is there another software that combines several Mscore files (1 file/audio channel)?
How to setup multichannel audio pan and change it during the play?

  3) How to easily write down such things as rotation through several audio channels, sweeps in space-time or copies of original sounds to other places in
space-time possibly with shifted properties, very commonly seen in modern compositions? For example instead of playing with one flute, 7 flutes could play
same melodies with slightly changed timings?

Hi,

MuseScore is designed to produce printed paper, not audio. Its a nice feature
that it can play the score so you can check you entered the right notes but
then a human musician has to make real music from it. The actual performance
depends on some complex context a musician is trained to do right. For the
kind of music i am familiar with this is out of the scope of current computer
technologie.
What you can do is to export score to midi and import it into an audio/midi
sequencer like application (like ardour on linux). With controller automation
and other editing features available there you may be able to create what you
have in mind.
That said MuseScore will sure be extended to render audio better using more
articulation signs, velocity, tempo changes etc.
