Problem with .msc file ext - shared with MS Management Console

cambiata
Hi!

There's a problem with the .msc file extension - it's shared with the Microsoft Management Console. Trying to run some windows utilities the other day didin't work, it caused MScore to start instead...
Ok, we all want to leave Microsoft behind..! :-) But, Gmail refuses to send .msc files as attachment (".msc is an executable file...").

I too have problems with the .msc file extension on Windows XP. The
files are associated with Microsoft Common Console by default. How about
using .mscore as the future file extension?

I would like to introduce a new compressed file format for mscore similar to
compressed MusicXml. Making this format the default and name it ".mscz"
could probably solve the problem.
The most interesting thing about the compressed format is, that it can consist of
more than one file (its a "container" format). This is useful to add images
and special symbols (as *.svg files) which are referenced from an *.msc file.

Sounds reasonable...!
This could also be a way to handle multiple versions (useful in pedagogical context,
for example one version as the student exercise and one as the teachers solution)...
