can't compile musescore perhaps because missing MacOSX10.10.sdk

Jim Newton
I just pulled the upstream master and tried to recompile.
It fails with 999 warning and 6 errors.

I notice that MacOSX10.10.sdk is missing from my filesystem,
instead I have MacOSX10.11.sdk

What should I do?
I haven't tried to compile at all for a couple of months at least.

Here are the errors.

clang: error: no such file or directory: '/Applications/Xcode.app/Contents/Developer/Platforms/MacOSX.platform/Developer/SDKs/MacOSX10.10.sdk/System/Library/Frameworks/AudioToolbox.framework'
clang: error: no such file or directory: '/Applications/Xcode.app/Contents/Developer/Platforms/MacOSX.platform/Developer/SDKs/MacOSX10.10.sdk/System/Library/Frameworks/AudioUnit.framework'

Try to build from scratch. Delete build.xcode and run make -f Makefile.osx xcode again.

I didn't upgrade to El capitan yet so I can't assist more until I upgrade (which might take some time because Qt build system is not yet ready on this OS as far as I understand)

Hi Lasconic, I saw a recent post on facebook about Musescore2 being ready for El Capitan.
You think this is the core of my compilation problem, that the development environment is not quite ready?

MuseScore 2 is ready for El Capitan. You can download the MuseScore 2.0.2 DMG, install and run MuseScore 2. So far, nobody reported a problem with that. That's the message on Facebook, towards users, not developers.

There is no mention anywhere that MuseScore can be compiled on El Capitan and that development is possible on this platform for now.
That's being said, I don't know if your compilation problem is linked to El Capitan or not. You solved the  MacOSX10.11.sdk issue? What's the next error you got?

Re: can't compile musescore perhaps because missing MacOSX10.10.sdk

Jim Newton
Hi Nicolas, no I didn't solve anything yet.
I don't really know how to interpret the make log.  (make -f Makefile.osx xcode)
I attached it to the previous posing.  It is transcript.txt
There are lots of warnings, but I don't know whether they are abnormal or not.

After the make -f Makefile.osx xcode, I can launch xcode, and try to compile, but the
compile is unsuccessful with what looks to me like the same problem as before,
i.e., it tries to find MacOsX10.10.sdk.

I used unix grep -R to find occurrences of the string MacOsX10.10.sdk, but there were too
many to make sense of.

Not sure how to continue.

I think the warnings in the log file from "make -f Makefile.osx xcode" are related to a small (non influential) bug which was solved in Qt 5.4.1. You could consider upgrading your Qt installation.

Unfortunately, I can't understand the error found during compilation. As a wild guess, maybe it is trying to use dependencies compiled in the old OS: Can you try to re-install the dependencies (via Homebrew or MacPorts, as you prefer)?
When exactly does the error appear?

Ciao,
ABL

We (half) solved this on IRC yesterday.

Jim is running El Capitan, Qt 5.4.0 and CMake 3.2.2, XCode7. Apparently the 10.10 sdk is not installed in this case.

* make -f Makefile.osx clean
* make -f Makefile.osx xcode
* open the xcode project, and run All_BUILD, Install and then mscore.

I'm not sure why Cmake(?) picks the 10.10 sdk and not the 10.11 one,  even if the first one is missing.
