color of cursor

Jim Newton
Can someone point me to the place in the musescore code where the color of the cursor is set?  By this I mean when I use the forward and backward arrows the "current" note is highlighted in dark blue, in contrast to the default black notes.  Where is this dark blue color defined?

Blue is color of voice 1.
Together with the 3 other colors for voice 2,3,4 it's defined in MScore::selectColor[]

These colors used to be easily configurable in MuseScore 1.x It's not the case anymore for two main reasons.
1/ We needed real estate in the preferences dialog
2/ Having the same color makes support easier.

Still the colors are customizable if you edit the main preference file of MuseScore under the keys selectColor1 etc...

The default color choice has been made after a lot of back and forth, so I would not change it except if there are really strong arguments against them.

Re: color of cursor

The main reason to want to change the color is that It is very difficult to distinguish dark blue from black.  Sometimes I press the forward and backward arrows for a long time to try to spot where the "cursor" is.  I want to change the color to something more visible such as aqua.   If I could do this in my own setup file, that would be cool.

I found the ini file.  It was not found automatically by spotlite, not sure why.  But it appears to be in ~/.config/muse.org/MuseScore.ini
The format of the file is not evident to me.  And I didn't find any reference to this file nor its
format in the documentation, other than how to reinitialize it back to the factory settings.

Any idea what the following means in the file?  selectColor1=@Variant(\0\0\0\x43\x1\xff\xff\0\0\0\0\xff\xff\0\0)

This file is not documented because you are not supposed to change it by hand. A bad change could prevent MuseScore to open.

I guess the format for the color is a QVariant (containing a QColor) serialized.

For future reference, ~/.config/muse.org/MuseScore.ini is not used by MuseScore 2 on a Mac.
The preference file is ~/Library/Preferences/org.musescore.MuseScore2.plist as documented here https://musescore.org/en/node/35956
