drum notation

Schoap D
Hi,

I want to make a drum score /notation. Is that possible with MScore? I'd
like to play the score with hydrogen.... But it seems hard to match
things... Or is there a good drum soundfont?

Dirk

Hello,

implementation of drum notation in MuseScore is not complete and the
existing parts are not well tested.

You can define a drum staff with lines != 5. In the instrument list
there is an example "triangle" with a one line staff.

Its also possible to define a "drum map", a mapping between played midi note
number (pitch) and note head symbol / position of note on staff.
If you now change pitch of a drum note with cursor up/down keys unexpected
things are happening: the note may jump up if you press down because the next
pitch number is mapped to an upper line.

There should be some code to handle drum staves in a special way on editing
and entering of notes. I will address this in a future release of mscore.

Regards,
Werner

Werner,

I'm a bit surprised  that there seems to be not a good way to make drum
notation and play it with a drummachine like hydrogen in linux...

It would be great if the feature of drum notation will be improved in
the next version of Mscore! Please think about how to make it possible
to get a nice drum sound, so it could also be recorded in ardour for
example.... Maybe a possibility to match things with the hydrogen drumkits?

Thanks in advance and good luck!

Dirk
